Coordinator Zhanna: Nowadays more and more people get concerned about products which allegedly contain GMO. But what are those spooky GMOs and is not it all just a horror movie?? Are we at a real risk of extinction? Is GMO usage so inevitable in the future and will it solve the biggest world problem? Isn`t GMO-free lifestyle too overrated?? Let`s try to find out! It would be interesting to learn what YOUR idea of GMO is. The links to some articles below might be helpful. Thank you for sharing your opinion!!! http://www.nongmoproject.org/learn-more/what-is-gmo/ http://www.goodsmatrix.ru/articles/gmo_prodykti.html

Coordinator Zhanna: * Sorry, actually intended to write "It would be interesting to know what YOUR idea of GMO is".

James Black: Of course the straight away answer is that GMO is bad. At least the whole proccess of playing God so that food is bigger, "fresher", l"lasts longer", and so on is contrary to nature. An American cow would think that a Russian cow is unhealthy. American cows are huge and I mean huge, they could feed an entire army base. Russian cows on the other hand are slimmer but that does not mean they are sick. A better example, Russian watermelons have seeds which I never saw when I lived in America. Seeded watermelons do exist in America but Americans prefer seedless watermelons. On this front it is hard to argue for or against GMO. People will say GMO is bad, as evident in the cows, because it makes people fatter. Though there is some truth to that, I am not a scientist so I can prove facts, people are fatter for how much they eat. When you have a fatter cow that means you have fatter portions and more of it. Russian cows and even veggies are smaller which means you have smaller portions and less of it. Now that is why people become fatter even though GMO does not help the situation. If you eat all that chemically proccessed food of course it will have an effect. When milk is changed in such a way that it can last three WEEKS in America you know that it will not leave your body fast. Such products just digest slower than normal healthy veggies. This is something I can prove because when I lived in America and ate GMO I weighed about 120 kilos. After living in Russia for 5 years and eating village veggies and other fresh products my mom can not recognize me at 75 kilos. That is a 45 kilo difference! However, when I am in America I look for organic food so that I can maintian my form. Ultimately GMO is not bad when eaten in moderation. Even red wine can be healthy if you do not abuse it. You must be careful with what you eat and how much of it you eat no matter GMO or organic. Pluses and minuses can be found on both sides so just spend more time educating yourself instead of worrying about the nonstop arguments. Anyone else have any stories or food for thought. So far only Zhanna and I have shared our thoughts so lets get some more info on the table to chew over.
